Connecticut excels at celebrating Christmas. The state is so full of Christmas charm that it has become a popular setting for holiday films by Hallmark, Netflix, and Lifetime, with over 22 Christmas movies filmed there so far.
In fact, there is a Hallmark Christmas movie trail extending across the entire state, highlighting towns where Christmas movies have been shot.
My husband and I planned to turn this into a date day. We looked into the trail and chose the historic town of Old Wethersfield, where the 2018 Hallmark Christmas movie "Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane" was shot. The film featured Alicia Witt, Colin Ferguson, Laura Leighton, Mary Beth McDonough, and Jill Larson.
We satisfied our craving by wandering through the charming Main Street downtown.
We visited the Heirloom Market and grabbed some local goodies. We traveled back in time by exploring the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum. It was captivating to experience a journey into the past.
We passed by the Silas Robbins Bed & Breakfast, where a significant part of the movie was shot.
We concluded the tour with a delightful lunch at Lucky Lou’s Bar & Grill, beginning with holiday-themed cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We both ordered the slow-roasted lamb gyros. DELICIOUS!!
Afterward, we headed home, made fresh popcorn, and watched the movie Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane. It was enjoyable to recognize all the locations we had just visited during our outing.
We had a wonderful time on our Hallmark Christmas Movie date day.
For a unique date day, give this a try!
Until we meet again...Traci H.
