My husband (David) and I try to schedule dates with each other at least three times a month. Whether it's going out to dinner, taking in a movie or going to a jazz club, we make an effort to do something fun each time.
This past weekend, we had a great date day. It started with a visit to the New England Air Museum (Windsor Locks, CT). It is located minutes from I-91 alongside Bradley International Airport and it's the largest aerospace museum in the region.
The New England Air Museum houses over 80 aircraft and an extensive collection of engines, instruments, and artifacts in three large display hangars and an outdoor display area. The museum also has 12 exhibits and displays. They also have multiple collections and programs for the youth.
Two of our favorite exhibits, however, were The Tuskegee Airmen: Their Untold Stories and the New England Women in Aviation given that we are currently celebrating Black History Month and will be celebrating Women's History Month in March. It seems quite fitting.
We've lived in New England for four years and finally made it to this museum and what a treat it was!
Dinner for Two
Tunxis Grill is an American fare restaurant offering a variety for everyone. Options range from steaks, seafood, pasta, and pizza and more.
We started with the Bruschetta that was topped with goat cheese and balsamic glaze. It was quite tasty. David ordered one of the specials, siracha grilled salmon with creamy butter garlic risotto and grilled asparagus. I ordered the crab crusted cod with crisp green beans and the creamy butter garlic risotto. Both were absolutely delicious!
Tunxis Grill's specialty cocktails were quite awesome too!
If you live in Connecticut or plan to visit, we highly recommend you visit both places if you can. Trust me, you will thank us.
Until next time...
