This delicious homemade pie was baked using a few of the apples we gathered during our family apple picking day a couple of weeks ago at Easy Pickins Orchards.
Although I don't make apple pie frequently, when I do, I rely on this recipe that I developed years ago and without a doubt, it remains my top choice for a homemade apple pie!
This pie is so good, it tastes like a Grandma made it! - Kennedy
The juicy apple slices are mixed with sugar and spices before being baked perfectly in a flaky pie crust.
Traci's Delicious Homemade Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
2 Pillsbury Pie Crusts
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
6 to 7 cups peeled (thinly sliced) tart apples (I like Empire)
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 Tablespoon butter
1 large egg white
OPTIONAL: Coarse sugar & ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Following the pie crust instructions on the box, prepare the pie crusts and transfer the dough for the crust to a 9-inch pie pan. NOTE: I use a deep-dish stoneware pie pan. Chill while preparing filling.
In a small bowl, combine sugars, flour and spices. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add the sugar mixture; toss and coat. Add filling to crust; dot with butter.
Unroll the 2nd pie dough. Place over filling. Trim, seal and flute the edges. Cut slits in top.
Beat egg white until foamy; brush lightly over crust. If desired, sprinkle with coarse sugar and ground cinnamon.
Bake on lowest rack until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly, 60-70 minutes, covering with foil halfway if crust begins to get too dark.
Cool on a wire rack.
Serve it with whipped cream OR ice cream and caramel sauce.
I hope that you give this recipe a try, it's simple and delicious!

Yes, this pie was the bomb diggidy. So much so, as I only had one slice and all of a sudden, it was gone! Great job, as always, Tra.
